Happy New Year

30 12 2007

Hello everyone, this will be my last post this year.

Firstly let me say a big thank you to everyone who took the time to stop by. It is nice to know that some people are interested in the same things as you are.

2007 was a great year, a dream came true for me and I have enjoyed every single minute of it (with exception to selling my Buell) and I am really looking forward to 2008. It will be better this year because Blair is riding now and we have big things planned. We went for our first ride out ever since he passed his test, except riding home from him picking up his bike. It was great and it was really funny to see someone else as cautious as I once was. I always go behind him because whenever I get in front I lose him. It’s not that I am going fast, it’s just I go faster than he does! Ha.

With well over 4,600 views in 2007, I am excited about what 2008 will hold for YamYam. One thing that will be good is the addition of video. I purchased a helmet cam and an adapter for my Archos 605 so once I get that I will post up some pics and a sample video to see what it’s like.

Anyway, it’s 01:33am and I am tired.

Thanks again to all who visited and I look forward to hearing from you in 2008.

Frozen…everything

23 12 2007

Goodevening.

Friday was the last day at work for 2 weeks. A joyous occassion for anyone. However the day got off to a bad start. I left the house at the usual 8:10am, and needed to go and get petrol. It was extremely foggy and very cold, but by the time I got to the local Esso, I didn’t think it was that bad.

Out came the key and as I went to open the fuel cap my key wouldn’t even go in. What’s wrong here!?!? Surely it can’t be frozen because my bike is kept in the garage, which has the boiler in it. Well it was, so I headed in to the tiny shoppie to look for de-icer. They had either a pump action one or an aerosol, which was a foot long. Opting for the foot-long I headed back out to the bike. 5-10 minutes later the key was in and the cap was open. Hurrah. In went the fuel and I went and paid for it.
When I got back out it was 8:40am. I still had a 30 minute journey ahead. Oh well. Key in the ignition…nope. It wouldn’t go in either. Surely the lock couldn’t have frozen in the 10 minutes I was in the station? So back out with the de-icer, skoosh skoosh, then I looked at me key and it was twisted. I then had to un-twist it and finally it went back in and the bike was good to go.

From Kinross to the bridge there was a thin layer of ice forming on all the leading edges of my body, including my visor which was like trying to see through a frosted glass window. Really scary. By the time I had got in to work I was shaking with the cold, my nose was streaming, my hands were like blocks of ice and my face was dirty from having to ride with the visor up.

Work passed without a hitch and we went out for a meal which was ace.

I then headed in to work on Saturday to pick my bike back up ( I got the bus home) and it is now sitting in the garage, fecking filthy, ready for a clean down and perhaps a cheeky ride over the xmas holidays. Who knows.
Anyway, I am going to sign off for the last post before christmas. So have a great one folks and don’t drink too much! HA.

Thanks for looking,

Gordon

Caught in the act

18 12 2007

Hello all,

I was browsing through my hard drive and stumbled across a photo that reminded me of a funny story.

On the way to France on my Buell I arrived at the ferry port in Rosyth. Having been separated from the cars all the bikers were lining up in their own wee bit. Most of the bikers were in groups and only I seemed to be flying solo.

So what better time to take a photo of my dream bike….only I whipped out the camera and within seconds a woman was shouting at me, “NO! NO! YOU CAN’T TAKE PHOTO’S HERE. HOI! YOU WITH THE CAMERA!”

I turned round to see all the bikers looking at me and some lady in a hi-vis vest pointing at me. So the camera went away after I managed to take 1 picture. She doddled up and said that this was a restricted area and that I am not allowed to take photos until I am safely aboard the ferry. Then I can take as many photos as I wanted….

WAIT A MINUTE HERE….I am not allowed to take a picture of my bike here because it’s a restricted area, but I can take as many photos as I like from an elevated lookout on a ferry…ok….

So anyway, away went the camera….but here’s the photo I took whilst in the top secret area of Rosyth Dockyard:

Don’t shoot!!

As you can see, I am exposing a top secret government facility…

Today was -1.C outside. Excellent. It was also frosty. Even better.

Thanks for looking!!!
