The race to Tesco and moving on

16 12 2007

Hello all.

Last week was the usual, long hours and short daylight. On the way home from work around 8pm, I decided to go to Tesco and pick up some ingredients for a cook off. I got up to the roundabout at the bridge and the lights turned red. In front of me was a bus, then a Toyota Yaris. Doing the usual of filtering between the lanes, I parked myself to the rear-left of the bus as there wasn’t any space to get through to the front. The woman in the Yaris beside me then decided to close the gap between her and the bus, in an attempt to shut me out.

The lights turned green but as usual it was tailed back, so the bus went and stopped. Then as the lights turned red the woman in the Yaris shot through the red and over to the next set of lights 20 ft away….but she left a gap in front of her.

I couldn’t resist the oppertunity so when the lights turned green I toodled over and went in front of the Yaris. Then to my utter amazement, the stupid woman in the Yaris then revved her engine and started moving forward. She ended up pinning my leg against my bike! I turned round and looked at her but she never looked at me, instead deciding to rev her engine some more.

The lights turned green and I started off, but the lady kept moving forward too, still pinning my leg to my bike! I sped up and got in front of her to arrive at the next set of lights around the roundabout. She drew in behind me and revved her engine again. When the final set of lights turned green I started really slowly and when she tried to undertake me I shot off. As I headed around the bend I felt the back end weaving around, very disconcerting, but I kept the gas on and I made it round.

I got in to Tesco and into the car park only to turn around and see this Yaris woman screeching in to a parking space and getting out in a stew. Unbelievable. I’ve never seen anyone in more of a rush to get their monthly shop than this woman.

Anyway,

I am not enjoying the ER-6 at all. The bike feels really unstable at any speed. I have adjusted my suspension, got new tires, checked the pressure and nothing seems to have remedied this dodgy feeling. I don’t like the rear tire and it’s 160 section, perhaps this is what is putting me off, but I just don’t like it. I also don’t like when I am pulling up to a stop, the bike starts heading off to the left, no matter how straight I try to keep it. It did this from day one. Perhaps the bike was dropped or crashed before me. This would explain the missing sticker on the right hand radiator pod…who knows.

But I am fed up. There is nothing worse than not being comfortable on your bike. I have done wet miles and dry miles, warm and cold days and it doesn’t matter one bit. The bike feels unstable in all conditions, even more frightening in the wet. So I have to change. This bike will get me through the winter, but come January I will be getting a new bike.

Subject to a test ride I will be getting a Z750. I absolutely love the styling, I love the dials, the 180 rear, the sticky uppy tail and that gorgeous exhaust. I also love the aftermarket parts you can get, and the front light as well. All really nice looking. The thing that would make it even better would be if you could get the Z1000 dual exhausts put on it…oh my word!

I mean…holy crap:

Z1000 gorgeousness

So yeah, January 22nd ish I will be heading to Perth MC’s to try and pick up a cheaper z750. I can’t wait!

Lovely!

Thanks for stopping by folks!

Gordon
