Valentino has won his 100th race. And I only caught the last 7 laps…by this point Vale was 5 seconds in front of Lorenzo, who was 20 seconds in front of Stoner, who was 20 seconds in front of Vermulen…Jimmy T was 6th, which, after Elias and Capi bundling in to the sand ala Hayden, played it cool and whizzed past them.
Vale’s celebrations, usually silly or funny in the execution, took a more mature edge today as he stood next to a massive banner with a photo from each of his 100 wins. Suzi Perry said “what a lovely celebration” and I agree. Vale really is the master and no-one can complain. Stoner looked like he was about to barf in parc firme but the camera cut before he did…
Friday saw the completion of another lightning fast week. I can’t believe how quickly they are going. My indicators seem to fix and unfix themselves randomly, which is highly annoying especially when I go to get the problem fixed.
I was getting through the pack on the motorway and suddenly found myself behind my Mum, so I decided to just sit behind her as she’s always giving me a row for not paying attention to the limits…
She signalled to stop once we got to my slip road and we spoke for a few moments before I headed around the roundabout. Just as I was getting to my exit a GSX-R 600 pulled in front of me and stuck his hazards on, as if he was saying cheerio or whatever. Instead though he turned them off and signalled left in to my road, then stuck them back on again. I pulled in front of him and got off my bike.
“I think I’ve got a flat” he said, as he checked the front. It was rock solid so I said, “What about your rear?”
I went over to check it and as I pushed the tyre in, there was no air in it whatsoever. I mean F L A T. I’ve never seen a tyre this flat on a bike that was being ridden. I could touch the alloy with the middle of the tyre, that’s how flat it was. I burst out laughing and said aye, it’s flat.
He then said, “I thought it was a bit weird” and I asked if it was weaving. He said yes and then went, “Well I’ve got this far.” Asking where he was coming from he said Aberdeen, on his way to Inverkeithing! He had travelled nearly 100 miles with a tyre so flat you could take it off the wheel with one hand. How did he manage to go around corners!?
We chatted for a few moments and he then mentioned he had a trailer at home and he would call his Ma to bring it. I said goodbye and off I went!
I still can’t believe how flat this thing was. He also looked really young, and I don’t know how he managed to ride it back from Aberdeen!
Anyway, that was my interesting story from this week. Oh wait, I got caught up in an accident on the way to work on Friday. I arrived at the scene on the motorway as the police car blocked off the 2 lanes. We sat for 10 minutes waiting for the motorway recovery blokes to sweep the debri off the road, wood chips mainly and then we were on our way. I think it was 2 lorrys, not sure though.
The weather is ming here and tomorrow I want to do nothing. I won’t get to do that. Emma is off.
Thanks for reading all,
Gordon
